Crime at the Stud

Notorious flyer for a 1977 show at the Stud, a gay bar in San Francisco, designed by James Stark. Reportedly the flyer caused enough outrage to cancel the show. The band - true to their namesake - had been making flyers of criminals, so this was on brand, if not a bit hot.

I first came across this image in the mid-80s in a book. The combination of "Crime," fascist imagery, and homosexuality - a trifecta of taboos - fried my teenage brain, and I have these people to thank for it. Ironically, when I tried to Google more info on this flyer, I came up with nothing. Considering the legend of this image, I can only guess that it's being suppressed by some safe algorithm or another. Condition is mint.
