Indie rock fanzine from 1997 with the font to match. Heavily focused on intellectual music criticism, harkening back to a time when a strong independent label industry also fomented an increasing musical cross-pollination. Rock, hip hop, electronic music, folk, blues were converging in new ways as the nascent internet began to raise cultural self-awareness. It's an interesting read, particularly an essay addressing the "minstrelcore" of Jon Spencer. Lots of reviews and writing that aim to walk that line between cute and obnoxious, a sort of rocknroll attitude that doesn't want to be TOO smart lest it lose its connection to the hoi polloi. Full-page ads for suck.com and the Guitar Wolf album on Matador.
