Early 80s LA hardcore band Crankshaft doesn't ring a bell for many people, but their flyers manage to provoke. Drawn by someone in their circle named Shaggy circa 1982, they usually feature crude, violent characters. The best part is when they go full homo-hate. I've seen a few of their flyers now, and will never forget their classic "Decapitated Homo" outing - simply unmatched. However, of these three installments, we have two contenders that at least revisit this fertile ground.

The gentlemen in the top hat and eye patch in the first image beckons you with his finger, drooling maniacally, holding a scythe marked "homo decapitator."  It also says "C.S." which either stands for Crankshaft or "con safos," also translated as "with respect." So at least he's being polite about it.

The second image has another nogoodnik brandishing a bloody battleaxe, and an unidentified smoking object in his other hand - curling iron perhaps? We might infer from his "Kill Fags" t-shirt that he's hunting homos, but is that all? The rant scribbled above seems focused on "anarchy" punks, because "your so dum your so wrong." At least this band has principles.

Lastly, we have a third image with some sort of axe-wielding monster holding a man's decapitated head. I see a theme here. Unfortunately, we don't know if this quarry is a result of a particular hunt or just some random head. We may never find out.

I wouldn't hold anyone responsible for 40+ year old art, as distasteful as it is. It's just a product of its time. I do ask myself "whatever happened to Shaggy?" only because he seemed as preoccupied with homosexuality as I am.

These are three flyers included in one lot. Condition is as-found: dirt, tape, stains, and all.
