Forcefield plush sculpture
Forcefield plush sculpture
Providence, RI art collective Forcefield made waves in the late 90s and early 00s for their fashion, performance, noisescapes, sculptures, and even comics. They got a big boost from their appearance at the 2002 Whitney Biennial, and were included in the 2014 book and exhibit "What Nerve!", a collection of overlooked and influential late 20th century American artists.
This is a one-of-a-kind hand-stitched doll or miniature, evocative of their "shrouds" - the menacing, psychedelic full-body suits fashioned from repurposed afghans that they are most known for. Front is a silk-screened, hot pink image of a bearded human, while the reverse is made of orange acrylic fabric.
Size is approximately 5" x 7" x 1.5" at its widest dimensions.
Includes a 4" x 6" postcard of one of their famous shrouds.
