I remember an urban legend from my youth that said Henry Rollins had appeared in a gay porn mag. It is actually true - it's this issue of In Touch For Men, with "exclusive interview" and photos. It's clear that Henry has always been unbothered by what others thought about him, and for 1984, this was bold.

For a period of time under editor Jim Yousling, this long-running magazine was actually a bit different than your typical gay porn mag. They took an interest in male rock musicians, and in particular, the local LA music scene, often hyping them in a sexualized fandom-style. Scores of photos of shirtless rockers projected a homoerotic bent, with Lee Ving (Fear), White Flag, Rank and File, Lux Interior (Cramps), El Duce (Mentors), Tesco Vee (Meatmen) and  many others. Of course, much attention was paid to rising stars Red Hot Chili Peppers, who often performed wearing nothing but socks on cocks.

My dull brain says that this magazine had an influence on JDs for its mix of music and homosex, but I can't find a citation for that. However, it's easy to see this as obvious proto-homocore material.
